Dec. 5: "The Chew & You" with Daphne Oz '04

"The Chew & You: Healthful, Tasty Nutrition" with Daphne Oz ‘04
Co-Host of ABC's "The Chew" and Author of "Relish"

This Friday, December 5, D-E welcomes its fourth speaker in "The Road to Well-Being" Speaker Series: D-E alumna, New York Times bestselling author, and ABC TV's hit lifestyle series "The Chew" co-host Daphne Oz ‘04. Daphne will lead a panel discussion with members of D-E's own FLIK Dining Services team, including Middle-Upper School Chef Luke Kuchavik and Lower School Chef Ricardo Alvarez.

What and how do you eat to deal with stress, low energy, or exhaustion?  How do you make decisions about what you eat? What decisions do chefs make when preparing & serving food? How do professional chefs make their own choices about nutrition and eating?

These questions and others will be addressed during this can't-miss presentation that is sure to resonate with anyone who has thought or been challenged by food, health, and nutrition.

All D-E parents and guardians, alumni, and friends are welcomed and encouraged to attend this free presentation, which will be held as a part of the D-E Middle School's weekly assembly program at 8:10 a.m. in Schenck Auditorium.

Natural foods chef Daphne Oz is “The Chew’s” fresh face of healthy living and resident practical tipster, sharing helpful information and her unique personal insights to make healthy living fun, easy and — above all — delicious!

Daphne knows a thing or two about battling extra weight while maintaining her love of food and cooking. In 2006, she wrote her national bestseller, The Dorm Room Diet, sharing the healthy lifestyle plan she developed in college that helped her permanently shed over 30 pounds without ever giving up the foods she loves. In April 2013, Daphne released her New York Times bestseller, Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun, a cookbook and all-around lifestyle guide full of the tips and tricks she uses as well as tons of delicious recipes that make health a priority and not an obsession.

The daughter of Dr. Mehmet and Lisa Oz, Daphne is a 2008 graduate of Princeton University and a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition who received her culinary degree from The Natural Gourmet Institute. In 2003, she helped found HealthCorps, a non-profit organization that provides nutrition, exercise and stress management education to teenagers in more than 50 schools nationwide.

Daphne’s refreshing, realistic perspective on balancing the happy-healthy life has made her an in-demand speaker on all things food, style, and everyday fun. She and her husband, John, live in NYC. They welcomed a daughter, Philomena Bijou, in February 2014! Find Daphne online at www.daphneoz.com.
