Manhattan resident Henry Fernberger D-E '14 originally started his D-E journey in the
Middle School, having become familiar with the School through older sister Emma D-E ’06.
Now a busy sophomore in the
Upper School, Henry leads a full life outside of school as a sailing competitor for regattas and dinghys, for which he can be found practicing on the Long Island Sound throughout the year.
But when he’s at school, one of his favorite classes is Art: “It is one of the only times I can be really creative during the school day.”
“I'm not sure why I love sailing; I just always have. I raced the [2011] British National and Open Championship in Pwllheli, Wales, and got eighth overall out of hundreds of boats. During these competitions, I find when I’m not sailing or seeing the city we're sailing in, I’m in the hotel doing homework.”
“…At D-E, [I love] how forgiving teachers are. They are (always) able to help you, even if you have a problem."
