About D-E

From the Head of School

Welcome to Dwight-Englewood School! Commitment, courage, respect, honesty, judgment and community —these enduring Core Values and fundamental principles of our school have shaped our culture and have guided generations of faculty, students, parents, and administrators. They are palpable everywhere, deeply embedded, and thoroughly define Dwight-Englewood’s distinctive environment—one that is serious, challenging, and caring all at once.

Here, at every level, in the LowerMiddle, and Upper School divisions, students gain critical skills, seek excellence, ignite their passions, and develop the habit of lifelong learning. They become whole persons, with an educational experience rooted in tradition but aimed at innovation. Through our foundation documents - A Profile of a D-E Teacher and a Profile of a D-E Graduate -- we articulate our vision for how our community members represent themselves both locally and globally.

On stage and on the playing fields, in the library and dining halls, on field trips, and even in casual hallway exchanges, learning is always present, active, and even joyful. Here, in our caring community, we listen carefully, we question probingly, we speak respectfully, we embrace diverse opinions and cultural perspectives, we encourage new ideas and challenge old ones, and we enjoy each other’s company.

We invite you and your family to enter into this conversation and look forward to your sharing time with us on campus.
