Middle Schooler David Lysenko Wins @ NJ Jr. Olympics
D-E Middle School student David Lysenko competed recently at the Association Championship (New Jersey Junior Olympics), a meet for top runners in the state, and ended up finishing first place in not just one, not just two -- but three separate events! David's times of 2:28 in the 800 meter run (half-mile); 4:58 in the 1,600 meter run (mile); and 10:48 in the 3,200 meter run (2 miles) gave him the distinction of winning all three distance runs -- a significant athletic accomplishment.
David's achievements extend into the academic realm as well; he was recently honored at a statewide awards ceremony for gifted children, held by the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth (CTY).
