The D-E Boys Varsity Basketball team demonstrated great fighting spirit at yesterday's Bergen County Jamboree game against 3rd seeded Old Tappan, in an exciting game held at Northern Valley Regional High School - Old Tappan. Narrowly missing a victory with a final score of 48-45, the Bulldogs were playing in the County Tournament for the first time since 2002.
According to Coach and Athletic Director Eli Goldberger, "It was a terrific game and I'm very proud of all the players. Our guys can walk away knowing that we can compete with one of the top teams in the County. And I'm very happy that our seniors (AJ Redmond '10, Colby Podesta '10, and Theo Katsoulis '10) will graduate having had the experience of playing in the Jamboree. Also our underclassman now know how close they are and how determined they must be going forward if they want to advance beyond the second round next year. We all also have the State Tournament to look forward to, which begins March 1st. We look forward to seeing our Bulldog fans at all our upcoming games!"
The Bulldogs have 7 remaining league games in their season, and are currently in a three-way tie for first place in the BCSL Olympic Division, competing against Palisades Park and Cresskill for the title.
