D-E Upper School senior Sara Brescia '10 made her place in Dwight-Englewood history last Friday night, February 19, 2010, as she scored her 1,000th point for the D-E Girls Varsity Basketball team. In a game against league rival, Hawthorne Christian, Brescia made her historic shot in the second quarter with 7:06 remaining on the clock, helping the Lady Bulldogs take a 25-8 lead. Playing as team forward, she became only the second female basketball player in Dwight-Englewood’s history to score over 1,000 points in a career. A four year varsity player, Brescia has played in 82 career games, grabbing over 700 rebounds, and scoring 1,020 points total. In the admiring words of Coach Richard Muller: "Sara Brescia is a great example of what a Dwight-Englewood student-athlete is all about. On behalf of the entire team and the D-E Athletic Department, I am extremely proud of the commitment and dedication that she has shown during this time.
