D-E Welcomes New Faculty & Staff

Dwight-Englewood School welcomes these new faculty and staff members for the 2010 - 2011 academic year: 

 

> Anne Cole, 8th Grade English and Social Studies:

Anne most recently was with the Cohen Hillel Academy (Marblehead, MA), teaching 7th Grade Ancient Civilizations and English, and 8th Grade American History. She has a Master's of Education from Marymount University, VA and a B.A. in International Studies from Dickinson College, PA. Anne is covering a maternity leave for MS faculty member Mimi Hammerberg Garcia this Fall 2010, and she will help coach the MS Cross Country team.


> Cecily Gottling, Lower School Math Specialist

Cecily most recently served with William Paterson University as Adjunct Instructor in Mathematics Methods and Assessments for Teaching K -5. She has earned a Masters of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University. Cecily was honored in 2009 as New Jersey Finalist for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. She has presented frequently to national associations and international conferences, including the American Educational Research Association.


> Alison Harrison, Lower School 5th Grade Math

Alison taught most recently in Rye, NY. She will be helping with the maternity leave for LS faculty member Jen Hogan. Alison has a Masters in Childhood Education and her professional background includes positions with the firms of JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs.

 

> Junia Kim, Middle School Spanish

Junia has a Master of Arts in TESOL and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish & Political Science from the University of Michigan. Most recently she taught Middle School Spanish at Greenhills School, in Ann Arbor, MI. She was a graduate presenter of "Emerging Voices in TESOL" at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, in December 2008.


> Sophia Lee, 6th Grade Math

Most recently Sophia was a 4th Grade Homeroom Teacher at the Milton Academy (Milton, MA), and she has also served on the faculty with the Fayerweather Street School in Cambridge, MA as a 5th / 6th Grade Co-Teacher and the Summer School Director. Sophia has a M.S.Ed. in Language & Literacy from Simmons College.


> Abbey Morgan, 6th Grade English

Abbey has a Graduate Certification in Special Education General Curriculum from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a B.A. in English from Rutgers University. Her background includes teaching English and Special Education through Teach for America.  She most recently was with West Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, NC, where she was also Head Women's Lacrosse Coach.


> Dierdre O'Malley, Upper School Pyschologist

Most recently Dierdre was a Counselor with the Roselle Park Public Schools in Roselle Park, NJ. She is also a Therapist with Advanced Pyschological Services in Ridgewood, NJ. Dierdre has a Psy.D. in School Psychology with a concentration in child and family therapy, from Rutgers University, where she also earned her Psy.M. in School Psychology.


> Carrie Shaurette, Librarian

Carrie recently earned her Master of Science in Information and Library Science from Pratt Institute (NY), and she also has a B.S. in Elementary Education from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). Her professional experience has included working for Bright Horizons in the positions of Program Coordinator, Teacher, and Associate Teacher, in both Jersey City, NJ and New York, NY.


> Vilma Riestra, Upper School Spanish

Vilma most recently was with the faculty of South Brunswick High School in Monmouth Jct, NJ, as Spanish Teacher for Grades 9-1, Levels I,II, and III. She has a Master’s in Spanish Language and Culture from the University of Salamanca, Spain, and a B.A. in Spanish, Secondary Education, from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ.


> Tara Weinstein, Upper School Science

Most recently Tara was Science Department Chair and Lead Physics Teacher for The Wheeler School in Providence, RI. A graduate of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, she has a U.S. Master of Arts-equivalent Bachelor of Education degree in Intermediate/Senior Science (Physics) and Mathematics.

 

> Giselle Winters, 7th Grade English

Giselle is earning a M.A./Ph.D. in Media, Culture and Communications from New York University, NY, and she has a Master of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Albany, NY. Most recently she was on the faculty of Bloomfield Middle School in Bloomfield, NJ, as an English Teacher in Creative Writing and Supplemental Language Arts. She also wrote the curriculum for the 7th and 8th grade Summer Enrichment program at Bloomfield MS.
