D-E Supports Center for Food Action through 2010 Food Drive

Liz Tausner

D-E students came together once again this year to show their concern for Bergen County residents in need of food and support.  The annual Thanksgiving D-E Thanksgiving Food Drive concluded this week with the delivery of a full truck packed with food donated over the past two weeks by all three of the school's divisions.  Students helped to unpack the truck which included non-perishables, toiletries, and other 'high-priority' items identified by the Center.  Shari Berk and Diane Christian, D-E C.O.D.E.S. faculty advisors, both remarked on the incredible amount of food contributed this year in particular, and how it spoke to the commitment that D-E has to helping the community.

Scott Reddin, representing the Center for Food Action, attended the D-E Thanksgiving Assembly this week to receive a symbolic bag of food as well as checks totalling more than $1,500.  Reddin spoke to the tremendous need in the Bergen County area, noting that the numbers of families served has increased by more than 50% in the past 3 years alone.  Dwight-Englewood School will be honored in December by the Englewood City Council for their history of long-term support to the Center.
