The student club C.O.D.E.S. (Community Outreach for Dwight-Englewood School) was recognized by the Englewood City Council this week, with a special resolution for their outstanding tradition of giving back. Reading from the official resolution certificate, City Council President Scott Reddin honored the club for its more than 15 years of supporting the Bergen County Center for Food Action through the School's annual Thanksgiving Food Drive.
Reddin spoke of his fondness for attending the School's annual Thanksgiving Assembly, and then remarked that the school has created an important pattern of supporting the Center through ever-increasing donations of nonperishable food and toiletries, monetary support, and, most importantly, a commitment over time that will continue into the future. Several US students, US Principal Joseph Algrant, and C.O.D.E.S. faculty advisors Shari Berk and Diane Christian were all in attendance to accept the resolution on behalf of Dwight-Englewood. They in turn thanked the City for this recognition, and mentioned their appreciation to former D-E faculty member Doris Gelman, who initiated the community support program years ago.
Located in Englewood, New Jersey, Dwight-Englewood is a greater New York City area private school with a rigorous college prep curriculum for boys and girls in preschool through grade 12.
