D-E Senior Girls Varsity Basketball Captain Jennifer Stone '11 was recognized and honored during the Lady Bulldogs' Senior Night which took place prior to last week's game against Saddle River Day School. The following was an excerpt from Coach Rich Muller’s remarks:
”I have been a varsity basketball coach for 21 years…with today being my 500th game. During that time, I have coached hundreds of young people and I can say…without question…that Jenn has been one of the most well-rounded people that I have had the opportunity to coach. During the time that I have known her, Jennifer has proved that not only is she a hard-working, determined athlete who gives 100% of herself during practices and games, but she also has an infectious laugh and the kind of smile that seems to lighten every room that she walks into. She not only has brought a quiet leadership to the team but she has also demonstrated an ability and willingness to be coached…..implement what she has learned…..and play basketball with all of her ability. Thank you Jenn for four remarkable years. You have made your team and the school very proud!”
In addition to her significant leadership on the basketball court, Jenn also demonstrated the same leadership on the tennis court, playing on the D-E Girls Varsity Tennis Team for four years, and serving as one of three captains on this year’s squad.
Coach Muller's milestone 500th game was also commended at the same game. Athletic Director Eli Goldberger noted, "Coach Muller has contributed nearly 12 years of dedicated service to D-E alone. His significant achievement of coaching 500 games is a tribute to his longevity and commitment to the sport. During his years at the helm Rich has had some winning seasons and some losing seasons. One thing that has never changed is his positive attitude and support of each and every girl that has ever played for him. Congratulations Rich!"
