Students Braverman, Johns Shine in the Spotlight

D-E Upper School students Heather Braverman '15 and Daryl Johns '14 are both exceptionally talented in the performing arts, and recently have had a star turn in the spotlight, showcasing these abilities.

Heather, a freshman, has a role in the upcoming major motion picture "Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life," starring Academy Award winner (and D-E alumna) Mira Sorvino '85.  The film is scheduled for an early 2012 release.  Heather's entertainmnent career highlights thus far have included singing alongside LeAnn Rimes on Disney’s Macy’s Day Parade float as Princess Jasmine and a 2-year performance as Felicity in the musical Circle of Friends at the American Girl Place in New York City. Heather has also acted on national television including roles on Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Law and Order: SVU, One Life to Live, Guiding Light and various commercials.Read more about Heather here on bergen.com!

Daryl, a sophomore and an accomplished acoustic bass player, performs this week at the Monterey Jazz Festival with the Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. The ensemble represents "the future generation of jazz stars through a program that selects the best and brightest high school jazz musicians in the country" and is dedicated to the study and performance of the most challenging big band literature available. Orchestra members are selected through a rigorous audition process.  Daryl is no stranger to the spotlight; last spring he performed at the GRAMMY® Awards, as a member of The High School Grammy Jazz Band.  Read more about Daryl here.
