D-E senior Anna Karpman, '12 was recently told of the exciting news that her work has been included on the AP College Board informational posters for the 2011-2012 academic year. An accomplished artist, Anna had her work selected from her 2011 submissions as part of her own AP Studio Art portfolio in 2D design. Under the tutelage of Marisol Diaz, D-E's design instructor, Anna has produced work for two runway shows featuring her distinct and powerful style that blurs the line between genders, ages and cultures. Anna's work will also be featured in the upcoming all-school theatrical production of "Alice's Amazing Adventures in Wonderland."
Gregg Emery, Chair of the Visual Arts & Art History department, regards Anna's work with awe stating, "These (AP College Board) posters are distributed to all school in this country and abroad who maintain AP Studio Art as part of their curriculum. Anna is a remarkable, creative and innovative member of the Class of 2012. Anna's work is very sophisticated but also maintains an edginess that is sincere and challenging,...offering much for an audience whether you are interested in fashion or not. Her work is art, high art with a capital A. This is one of those students who from day 1 you just know as an artist an educator has a lot to say and is going places. It is obvious from her work that we have not heard the last from Anna and look forward to tracing her artistic journey from D-E and beyond."
