The D-E student instrumental ensemble StringJam will once again take its show on the road, this time to the nation's capital. The group will present a concert and workshop with OrchKids at New Song Academy in Baltimore this Thursday, January 26. OrchKids is a program offered through the acclaimed Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, as an education initiative that provides social and learning opportunities for Baltimore City youth. StringJam will also be performing a recital on Friday, January 27, at the National Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C., in partnership with Washington Suzuki Strings.
The tour is StringJam's second in as many years; in 2010 they traveled to New England for a similar series of live concerts. Members of the ensemble also performed in the United Kingdom this past summer, with the D-E Touring Orchestra.
String Director and D-E Performing Arts faculty member Annaliesa Place commented, "(W)e are excited to present concerts in Baltimore and Washington D.C. this January. The group, comprised of 13 string players, will perform pieces by Mozart, Bach, Telemann, and Schubert. We are especially thrilled to be collaborating with the OrchKids Organization sponsored by the Baltimore Symphony and Washington Suzuki Strings under the direction of Marissa Murphy!"
