Bruce Devlin Named Varsity Boys' Baseball Coach

Bruce Devlin has been named as the new D-E Varsity Boys' Baseball Coach, announced Athletic Director Eli Goldberger earlier this week.  Devlin currently serves (and will continue to maintain his role) as D-E School's Director of Facilities.  Prior to coming to D-E in 2010, Devlin was Custodial Supervisor and Head Varsity Baseball Coach for the Princeton Day School (PDS), where he worked for more than 10 years (1999-2009). While with PDS, Devlin’s team earned 145 wins and 35 losses, and was a two-time winner of the Prep B State Championships.  During his tenure with PDS Devlin was also honored three times as Coach of the Year by the Star Ledger.
From 2009-2011, Devlin also served as Notre Dame High School as Assistant Varsity Coach;  Notre Dame was the winner of the Mercer County Championship in 2010. Devlin has also managed several elite travel teams that have won many National Championships and AAU State Championships.

Devlin says his coaching philosophy stresses the teaching of fundamentals and being aggressive during games. He also loves to host practices because it represents his very own classroom where he can prepare the team to be ready for game situations.  He commented, "Whether as a Director of Facilities or Head Baseball Coach, I enjoy building a strong team to get a lot of goals accomplished. My main motto is that 'we are only as strong as our weakest link.'"

AD Eli Goldberger noted, "I am very excited to welcome Bruce to our coaching staff.  He has extensive experience, and will be a significant asset to our school's athletics program!"

This Fall 2012, Devlin will also serve as D-E's Assistant Varsity Football Coach.
