Fall Sports Banquet Honors Athletes

In the words of D-E Upper School Athletics Director Eli Goldberger, “Fall 2013 was one of the most balanced sports seasons in D-E Schooll history!”

The Fall 2013 Sports Banquet, held last week in the Silberfein Gym for nearly 300 D-E student athletes, coaches, and their families, recognized all of Dwight-Englewood School’s Upper School teams for their outstanding accomplishments this past season.

Goldberger noted that “of the seven programs offered this season, the Bulldogs notably won two league titles (Girls' Tennis and Cross Country, which won their first league championship since 1983); we reached the Bergen County Semi-Finals in Field Hockey; and Varsity Football made us proud in hard-fought matches against rivals including Horace Mann and Newark Academy. In addition, both the Boys' and Girls' Varsity Soccer teams qualified for the State Tournament.”

Those in attendance at the Banquet also enjoyed hearing from visiting alumni Alison Desir ’03 and Mike Kopko ’03, who were featured presenters in honor of Dwight-Englewood School’s 125th anniversary year. Both shared entertaining, compelling personal stories about when they played for the Bulldogs as well as some words of wisdom and more reflective thoughts on how their experiences have shaped their lives today.
