Comeback Victory For The Bulldogs

The MS girls came back to beat a very deep and talented EMS team 22-21 in a thrilling come from behind victory.  The game was a revenge game for the lady bulldogs who lost to the impressive EMS team earlier in the season.  In front of the entire middle school at our annual "pack the gym" event, the team came out a bit slow falling behind 11-2 in the first quarter, but after a very strong second quarter they took the lead by one going into halftime.  After a back and forth third and forth quarters, the bulldogs trailed the game by 2 late in the 4th quarter but were able to tie the game up with about a minute to go.  After another impressive defensive stand, Hannah Gordon gathered in a half court pass and pushed ahead to attempt a lay up and despite missing, she was fouled.  After hitting one of two free throws with 12 seconds to go, we had to have one strong defensive possession to hold off EMS.  They were able to force EMS into a desperation shot that went way long and secure an exciting win that was easily our highlight of the season and also ensured an above .500 record for our season.  Excellent shutdown defense played by Ryan Rodgers, Victoria Kong, Emily Nebens, Linda Chen and Lilly Arang.  Strong offensive performance by 8th grader Victoria Kong also in her second to last game as a MS student.
