Since Calliope 2014 won a Gold Medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association during the critique phase in October 2014, it was also in the running for a Crown award, which is awarded after the judging phase. In December, the 2014 issue was awarded a Silver Crown - one of 20 in the High School Magazine Silver Crown category, and one of 115 Silver Crowns overall. The awards were given out at the Awards Convocation for Scholastic Crown recipients during the 91st Scholastic Convention on March 20, 2015, at Columbia University, and two of last year's editors were on hand to receive the award: Kira Tsougarakis '14 and Alana Solin '14.
“[This is] our second Crown in four years and the fourth Crown ever in our school's history of submitting Calliope to the Columbia Scholastic Press Association,” said faculty advisor and Middle-Upper School Librarian Steve Petkus.
