This is only the fifth time in D-E School history when the journal has earned this distinction, with previous Crowns awarded in 1982, 1993, 2011, and 2014.
Steve Petkus, D-E Librarian and
Calliope faculty advisor, commented, "This award is a big deal: it represents recognition on a national level, with only 56 scholastic and collegiate magazines honored with Crowns out of 1,100 entries. I am so proud of the work of our students: the writers and artists who contributed their original pieces for the magazine, the staff who helped choose the content, and especially our four editors, who worked tirelessly last spring to shape
Calliope 2016: Savannah DiGiovanni '16, Noa Levin '17, Nasrin Lin '16, and Maxine Musto '17."
The current
Calliope 2017 editorial board will attend the awards presentation later this spring at Columbia University, during which they will learn if the Crown award is a Gold or a Silver.
Congratulations to our entire Calliope crew!
