Welcome New D-E Faculty & Staff

Welcome to D-E!
 
Dwight-Englewood is excited to welcome the following new faculty and staff members who are joining the School for the new 2017-18 academic year.
 
Rachel Brainin is joining D-E as the Lower School Librarian. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Media at Rutgers University and her Master’s Degree at Hunter College in Elementary Education. Rachel’s experience includes teaching at PS 287 in New York, NY and she has also been a substitute teacher at D-E.
 
Dorothy Bryan joins D-E as Assistant to the Lower School (LS) Principal.  Prior to joining D-E Dorothy worked for Envigo Inc. as the Executive Assistant for the CEO and Administrative Assistant at Unilab Corporation. She completed an advanced secretarial course at Katherine Gibbs School and has volunteered extensively at Oasis for Women, Kula for Karma, and Community Food Bank.
 
Charlie Burke is a new faculty member of D-E’s Language Department. Charlie received his Bachelor’s Degree in English at Case Western Reserve University and his Master’s Degree in Humanities from University of Chicago. His prior experience includes tutoring at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in the Educational Services for Students Department, and most recently he taught Latin at North Phoenix Preparatory Academy.
 
Shawn Clybor is joining D-E’s History Department faculty.  Shawn received his Bachelor’s Degree from University of Illinois, Chicago and his Ph.D. and Master’s Degree in History from Northwestern University. He has worked most recently for Kew Forest School as Director of Senior Projects and History Teacher.  Shawn’s prior experience also includes serving as Team Leader, Cultural History Teacher and Curriculum Writer at Ross School.
 
Lynn F. Ferrara is the new Administrative Assistant to the Advancement Office. She received her A.A. from Berkeley College. Most recently, Lynn served as Business Office Assistant / Accounts Receivable for Maywood Center for Health & Rehabilitation. Her past experience also includes working for Oakland Care Center as Receivables / Financial Coordinator, and as the Administrative Assistant in Corporate Advertising for Sony Electronics Corporation Inc.
 
Idara Foster joins D-E’s English Department faculty. Idara received her Bachelor’s Degree in African American Interdisciplinary Studies at Wesleyan University and her Master’s Degree in Teaching at University of Pennsylvania. Previously Idara was an English teacher at The Taft School and her prior experience includes student teaching at Choate Rosemary Hall and working as a teaching assistant at Wesleyan University.
 
Marc Gladstone is joining D-E as an Upper School Lead Learning Specialist. Marc received his Bachelor’s of Science in Business degree from Skidmore College and his Masters of Science from Hunter College.  Most recently Marc was in private practice leading Gladstone Educational Consulting and his prior experience includes working as an Educational Specialist for Child Mind Institute; Director of Learning Support at Trinity School; and Director of Learning Support Services for Berkeley Carroll School.
 
Kristina M. Gomez is joining D-E as a Lower School Teaching Assistant.  She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Saint Peter’s University and her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Concordia University. Kristina has worked at Belleville Public School as a Student Teacher and later this year she will help to coach D-E Softball.  
 
D-E Lower School welcomes J. Nicholas (“Nick”) Harrison as a Recess Coach. Nick received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Lake Forest College and is an alumnus of the Dwight-Englewood School Class of ‘99. Nick most recently has worked at D-E as a substitute teacher and After-School Sports Instructor. His prior experience includes working for Woodmont Properties as a Corporate Driver/Office Assistant, as a Senior Survey Analyst at Towers Watson Data Services, and as a Assistant Varsity Football / Baseball Coach for D-E.
 
Christopher (“Chris”) Kelly is joining the faculty of D-E’s Science Department. Chris received a Double A.B. in Geology & Environmental and Geosciences & International Affairs at Lafayette College, and his Master’s in Science. in Environmental and Planetary Sciences at Brown University. His prior experience includes teaching at Brown University and serving as a Graduate Advisor for Undergraduate Research. He also was a Tenth Grade Visiting Chemistry Teacher at Umkhumbane Schools Project and a Teaching Assistant at Lafayette College.
 
Jacqueline (“Jackie”) Marshall joins D-E as a Lower School Recess Coach. Jackie received her B.A. in Mass Communications from Iona College and her Masters of Science in Sports Administration from Hampton University. Her prior experience includes working as a Camp Counselor with Iowa College Summer Day Camp and she has held internships with the New York Giants/Ferro Productions and Disney ABC Television Group.
 
Orestes F. Medina is joining D-E as a Lower School Teaching Assistant.  Orestes received his Bachelor’s Minor in Computer Science and Arts and a Major in Communications at La Salle University. His prior experience includes working as Supervisor of the Teaneck Recreation Center Summer Program and he is also currently working for D-E’s Football Team as the Jumping/Sprinting/Defensive Back/Wide Receiver and Assistant Offensive Coordinator Coach.
 
The D-E Visual Arts Department welcomes new faculty member Margaret Jihyun Min. Margaret received her Bachelor's Degree in Visual and Environmental Studies with Secondary Field in East Asian Studies from Harvard University, and her Master’s Degree in Art Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has student taught at Packer Collegiate Institute, PS 452, and had an internship at The Children's Museum of the Arts.

Debbie Rivera Murphy joins D-E as Dean of Student Activities. An alumna of the Dwight-Englewood School Class of 2011, Debbie received her Bachelor’s Degree in History from Georgetown University. Most recently Debbie worked as an English Language Instructor at Korea Poly School. She has also worked as a 1st Grade Teaching Assistant at the Inspired Teaching School and served as an intern with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
