D-E Marks VDay 2018 / 20th Anniversary

Friday, February 16 is the date set for D-E's VDay 2018, which will take place at 7:00 PM in Hajjar Auditorium (2nd floor, Klein Campus Center). An annual event held in tandem with the international initiative of the same name, this year's program at the School will once again feature the voices of students and adults as they share their perspectives through performances of spoken word, poetry, prose, and more. All the performances are designed to raise awareness of the pervasive issue of violence against women, and to ultimately support gender equality.

More than 20 perspectives from the D-E community will be heard, including many Upper School students, teachers, and staff members. (See below for a complete list of participants.) 2018 marks the 20th anniversary of what is described by the original founders as "an artistic uprising, a radical act, and an act of resistance."  D-E performers will join VDay and "One Billion Rising" (OBR) activities worldwide. D-E VDay Director and Performing Arts faculty member Carla Moriarty, notes, "Now, more than ever, it is important for [us all] to engage in raising voices together."

Admission for VDay 2018 at D-E is $25 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the Englewood, NJ-based Women's Rights Information Center.
