SWARTLEY GALLERY SERIES PRESENTS Donna Davies Timm

Starting from Wednesday, April 4 through Monday, April 30, D-E’s Swartley Gallery Series will feature works by fiber artist Donna Davies Timm. Kicking off the show was a successful artist “meet and greet” reception on the opening day - students had an opportunity to watch the artist creating a free-style embroidery on her sewing machine, to use the artist’s table loom to continue the textile work, and to further discuss the unique textiles and mesmerizing embroidery works on display.

More about the artist:

Donna Davies Timm, a native of Great Britain, has lived and worked in New York for the past 20 years. She studied Surface Pattern and Textiles at Cumbria University, UK, specializing in Tapestry Weaving. Post university, she worked as a full-time artist, producing tapestries for Carlisle Cathedral, Southern England County Council as well as private commissions. She has exhibited work in the Royal Academy of Art, London, as well as many private galleries throughout England. Over the past 25 years Donna challenged and expanded her creativity into other forms of textile art, designing, constructing and embellishing customized garments and costumes for historical re-enactment, theater and performance. In Spring 2012 Donna relocated to Nyack, New York. Since her move she has enveloped herself in the local community, in particular the Nyack Art Collective & Nyack First Friday which she is currently directing.
