This week presents great opportunities to enjoy D-E students' visual and performing arts endeavors! On the evening of Tuesday, May 22, D-E Stage Band presents their annual springtime Cabaret Night, and on Wednesday, May 23, students from the Upper and Lower Schools will perform a Handbell/Choral Extravaganza on the stage of Schenck Auditorium. Concurrent with this concert, an art exhibit featuring 2-D and 3-D works by Upper School students will be on display.

Cabaret Night, performed by the D-E Stage Band, will showcase classic and contemporary jazz hits including Cole Porter's "I Get a Kick out of You"; Basie's "Jumpin at the Woodside"; George and Ira Gershwin's "Someone to Watch Over Me"; "Orange Colored Sky" (DeLugg/Stein, Arr. Holmes);"Moten Swing" (Moten, Arr. Matteson); and more. The concert is at 7:00 PM in Hajjar Auditorium on the 2nd floor of Klein Campus Center.

The Handbell/Choral Extravaganza and Art Exhibit 2018 will feature the Upper School (US) and Lower School (LS) Choruses and all US Handbells Ensembles, performing both pop hits ("Opening Up" (Sara Bareilles); "Time After Time" (Cyndi Lauper); "Fast Car" (Tracy Chapman)) and adaptations of classic composers including Offenbach and Schubert. Carly Simon's "Let the River Run" will then bring all ensembles together for a grand finale. US student artwork (including this piece by Katie Evans '18) will also be on display, featuring prints, photography, sculpture, ceramics, and other media.  Following the performance, the D-E Parents' Association Friend of the Arts will host a reception. It all begins at 7:00 PM in the Klein Campus Center.
