Spanish
Instructor: Ericka Collado
In third, fourth and fifth grades, students meet three to four times a week in a FLES (Foreign Language Elementary School) setting with Doctora Collado.
FLES programs help students develop an openness, understanding and appreciation for other cultures. Students develop and master functional skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish. The goal of a FLES program is to develop proficiency in oral and written communication in Spanish through the integration of language skills and concepts taught.
The students use words and phrases to express messages verbally and in writing. The emphasis is on learning vocabulary. In Grade 3, students participate in a thematic Unit called, “The Spanish Speaking World”. They focus on in-depth material based on our school environment and Spanish speaking countries.
