The Jazz Vistas Ensemble presents a special collaboration with several of New York’s top South Asian instrumentalists, performing a "South Asian Connections" concert event with traditional Indian offerings, Bollywood-inspired hits, and more!
On Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. in Hajjar Auditorium, Dwight-Englewood School will welcome world-renowned singer Falu (
falumusic.com), professional dancer Barkha Patel, percussionist Deep Singh, and multi-percussionist/drummer and D-E alumnus
Dave Sharma '94 for an exhilarating night of music and dance. Jazz Vistas features D-E Jazz Rock / Stage Band Director and Music Department faculty member Rob DeBellis on reeds, Tom Barney on bass, and Robert Levin on keyboards and percussion. Together they will infuse this special evening with a jazz perspective. The concert will also feature student performers including Dwight-Englewood’s own
Jack Seidenberg '15 on guitar and dancer
Sara Uttamsingh '19 along with student dancers Riya Babani, Ashita Dhadda, Diya Mookim, and Arushi Srimal.
As Dave Sharma describes: “ At its best, the music from the Indian subcontinent is so much more than the sum of rhythm, melody, voice, and instruments— it speaks to the shared experiences, spirituality, and emotions of literally billions of people across the thousands of years of its existence.”
This concert promises to make the intimate setting of Dwight Englewood’s Hajjar Auditorium the place to be on March 12!
Tickets are available at the door for $25 (adults) and $20 (students); Cash or checks accepted.
