More than 50 clubs were featured at the Annual Activities Fair on Sept. 18, ranging from charitable service to the arts, academics to school life, and more. Some of the "familiar faces" - longstanding clubs that have held a strong presence on campus for many years - included CODES (Community Outreach at D-E School), Spectrum, Jazz Rock Ensemble and D-E Fights Cancer (DEFAC). In addition to the nine new clubs that were represented, the existing clubs have come back with new missions and clearly articulated goals to be accomplished this year. The GSA Club changed its name from "Gay/Straight Alliance" to "Gender & Sexuality Association," in an effort to be more inclusive of all students interested in creating a safe space for all individuals of differing genders and sexualities. The D-E App Design Club invited students to join their year-long effort to create a functional app while giving the community updates on their progress, from start to finish. The Women in Technology Club was formed to encourage young women to explore their interests in technology and learn about the different opportunities available in this field. My Mind Matters aims to focus on spreading mental health awareness at D-E and eliminating the stigma around mental illness. The students involved in clubs and activities are eager to learn together, grow together and contribute to life at D-E in a meaningful way.
