Dwight-Englewood School’s Summer Connections 2015 has just ended, and each of the multiple programs operating concurrently on campus brought their specific energy to the D-E community.

When the Summer Discoveries and Adventures programs, who resided in the Lower School, made the journey across campus to trick-or-treat for Halloween in July and even attend performances, the cohesive nature of Summer Connections came to life. As Scholars and Enrichment students were intensely and creatively challenged in the classroom, the cast of Legally Blonde: The Musical - aka the Summer Stage students of the in-residence program with Black Box Studios - tackled their artistic challenges in multiple spaces on campus.

Classes and rehearsals sure do work up an appetite, one that was satisfied by the Cookie Café Enrichment course and their bake sales the last three Fridays of the program. Sweet tooths were satisfied, controversial topics were debated, and iPhone cases were 3D-printed - adding to the exciting things that has happened on campus this summer.  

Though the summer is coming to an end, the energy on campus will remain for this coming week as String Society prepares for their Grand Finale Concert on Friday, August 7, at 3 PM in Hajjar Auditorium. This one-week intensive program will hone the practicing and performing skills of exceptional students who have a passion for orchestral and chamber music. Each of these students had to audition to be accepted to the program, which is co-directed by two of D-E’s own Performing Arts faculty members, Annaliesa Place and Diego Garcia.
