    DE dropped both sets to the Harrison blue tide losing 13-25 and 18-25. 

    Senior Carly Abramowitz broke her own record tonight for a career and school high 34 digs in a single match.

  • Bulldogs drop to neighbor Tenafly Tigers 0-2

    The girls volleyball team lost to Tenafly on Saturday 0-2 (14-25, 14-25) in a tough match. Offensive highlights: Stella Mayer had 6 kills, Olivia Garcia had 5 kills and Allison Taylor offered up 9 assists. Defensively Carly Abramowitz continues to lead the charge with 24 digs.

    The girls LAST match will be Tuesday vs Harrison.
  • DE Bulldogs loses nail biter to Leonia Lions

    Yesterday the DE bulldogs fell short of a victory versus the Leonia Lions on senior recognition night in two sets (21-25 and 24-26). The five seniors started and set the tone of the match competiting point for point. The quality of volleyball that was played was much higher than it has been the past few weeks. Senior OH Lauren Skulnik performed a career best with 5 kills; Senior Setter Alexa Kaufman chipped in with 4 kills, 10 assists, Jr OH Stella Mayer 4 kills and Soph MB Olivia Garcia had 4 kills and Freshman Allison Taylor had 10 assists . Defensively Senior Carly Abramowitz led the charge with 21 digs and Freshman Allison Taylor added 12 digs to the effort.

    Next up: DE's special 125th celebration match versus Tenafly, Saturday at 2:30pm.

  • Bulldogs victorious over Saddle River Day School

    The lady bulldogs fought hard to beat a much improved Saddle River squad defeating Saddle River in 3 sets (25-17, 21-25, 25-13). The dogs finally found their stride in game three pouncing their opponents. 

    Highlights: Sophomore MB Olivia Garcia with a career high 10 kills, Senior L Carly Abramowitz with a new school record with 31 digs and Freshman S Allison Taylor with a career high 17 assists. 
  • Bulldogs Drop Two in a Row to Park Ridge Owls and Secaucus Patriots


    The lady bulldogs lost to the owls of park ridge 17-25, 20-25 on Monday and to the undefeated, state ranked Secaucus knights 7-25- 9-25 Tuesday.

    Park Ridge highlights:
    Alexa Kaufman 10 kills
    Carly Abramowitz 16 digs

    Secaucus highlights:
    Allison Taylor 11 digs, 4 assists
    Carly Abramowitz 11 digs
    Lauren Skulnik 3 kills

    Lady bulldogs return to action on Thursday to play Ridgefield and Saturday to play Saddle River Day.
  • Bulldogs Drops Match to Harrison

    The bulldogs were unable to surpass the tenacity of opponent Harrison Friday night in Modell's sports complex losing in two games (18-25, 21-25). Bulldog highlights were from player OH Stella Mayer with 8 kills and a career high 20 digs, and L Carly Abramotiwitz who continues her 7 match streak with 20+ digs/match, recording 20 for the day.
  • DE pulls out the victory vs Queen of Peace

    The energy was electric in Modell's Sports Complex Thursday night as the lady bulldogs took on league opponent Queen of Peace Griffens. DE came out flat in the first set losing 18-25 but battled back to take sets two and three 25-21 and 27-25 respectively. The third set, as the score indicates, was back and forth with both opponents earning their points. With the bulldogs down 24-22, Stella Mayer had 3 straight kills to tie up the match before heading back to serve. Her serves proved too much to handle and DE earned the win.

    DE highlights: Junior OH Stella Mayer with 8 kills and 12 digs, Junior OH Miranda Duster with 8 kills and 6 digs, Senior L Carly Abramowitz with 26 digs, Senior S Alexa Kaufman with 6 kills and 13 assists, Sophomore MB Olivia Garcia with 5 kills and Freshman S Allison Taylor with 7 assists, 8 digs.

    DE is back at it again with Park Ridge on Monday 10/14 at 4pm in Modell's Sports Complex.
  • Vball Falls to Lyndhurst (1-2)

    After coming out with an impressive start, beating Lyndhurst 25-9, the lady bulldogs lost the next two sets 17-25 and 19-25 to rival Lyndhurst. The bulldogs put themselves in a rut at the start of sets 2 and 3 and were unable to fight back.
    Highlights: Stella Mayer 7 kills, 14 digs; Miranda Duster 6 kills; Carly Abramowitz 25 digs; Alexa Kaufman 5 kills, 10 assists; Anna Bloom 5 aces

  • DE Drops Tight Match to Rival Leonia

    The volleyball team lost a naii bitter to rival opponent Leonia today in 3 sets: 26-28, 25-21, 23-25. While the bulldogs certainly had their chances to take the victory, they were unable to surpass the tenacity of the lady lions. Lead performances were by Junior OH Stella Mayer with 8 kills, Senior Setter Alexa Kaufman with 5 kills, 7 asssists. Freshman Allison Taylor also offered up 7 assists and a career high 9 digs while defensive standout Carly Abramowitz chipped in 24 digs for the effort.

    DE moves to 2-4 in the league, with an important match versus Harrison on Friday.  
  • DE gains momentum at Tenafly Tournament

    The lady bulldogs had a successful weekend the tournament hosted by local Tenafly HS on Saturday. The girls demonstrated power and finesse as they executed each and every position, performing well as a team. Five of the seven starters on Varsity are first year Varsity players so this weekend proved key to gain confidence. The girls fought hard during round-robin pool play defeating Tenafly 25-22 and Garfield 25-22 while losing to New Milford 23-25, Montville 15-25, & Vernon 26-28.

    The bulldogs beat Tenafly (for the first time ever in playoffs) in the Quarterfinals 28-26 , but ultimately lost to tough opponent Montville 16-25. The girls finished the tournament tied for 3rd of 6 teams.
  • Career High Performances Lead the Team to Victory

    The lady bulldogs won a comeback victory versus league opponent New Milford 22-25, 25-23, 25-22.  Stellar offensive performances were produced by Junior OH Stella Mayer with a career high 11 kills and Senior Setter Alexa Kaufman also with career high 10 kills.
    On the defensive end, Junior DS Elyse Shulman provided 7 digs and 4 aces, while Senior L Carly Abramowitz broke her second DE record of the week. Carly surpassed her original DE single match digs record of 27 digs which she set against New Milford last season, with adding 29 digs to the effort.

    The team is off to Tenafly on Saturday for the annual Tenafly Tigers Volleyball Tournament.
  • Record Breaking Performance by Senior Libero Carly Abramowitz

    Senior Libero Carly Abramowitz broke the DE Career record for digs in our match against Ridgefield today. In the last 4 matches alone she's had 75 digs, which helped her surpass the old record set in 2009 by Allison Greenwald at 224 digs. Currently. Carly has 233 digs during her time here at DE and that number is surely going to grow even higher.

    Also watch out for Carly to beat the single-season digs record which currently stands at 172 digs by Ani Merjian in 2010.

    Unfortunately, the defensive performance led by Abramowitz and Junior Outside Hitter Stella Mayer who had 8 digs in today's match was not enough to surpass the Ridgefield Royals. DE's performance was riddled with hitting errors, giving Ridgefield the victory over the bulldogs.
  • DE falls to reigning county champ Secaucus

    DE girls volleyball struggled with consistency against reigning county champ Secaucus on Friday, Sept 20th. Leading the defense was senior libero Carly Abramowitz with 13 digs, while Alexa Kaufman set up the attack with 6 assists.

    Next up: Ridgefield at 4pm on Tuesday, September 24th.
  • DE Gains Momentum over Queen of Peace Win

    The lady bulldogs started out slow dropping the first set 21-25, but they gained momentum on offense winning sets 2 and 3, 25-21 and 25-22. Highlights came from Sophomore spark plug Olivia Garcia with a career high 8 kills, Captain Senior Libero Carly Abramowitz with 18 digs, setter Alexa Kaufman with 10 assists. Other key stats: Elyse Shulman and Carly Abramowitz each had 4 aces a piece.

  • DE overpowered by Lyndhurst

    The lady bulldogs officially opened their season Thursday, September 12th in Modell Sports Complex. The team started out slow, shaking out the nerves, but had some excellent rallies, coming back to win 26-24. The injury of starting Middle Blocker, Lexi Mayer, proved to be difficult to overcome in games 2 and 3, DE dropped those games 14-25, 17-25.

    Highlights: Senior Libero Carly Abramowitz had 26 digs while Junior Outside Hitter Miranda Duster led the team with 8 kills.
    The bulldogs play Queen of Peace next Tuesday, 9/17.
  • DE drops tough scrimmage to Bergenfield

    The lady bulldogs learned a lot from their loss to Bergenfield (19-25, 23-25, 25-16). While DE is still trying to solidify their starting line up, the girls learned they need to work on staying focused throughout the entire match and to continue communicating especially when play breaks down. The team will take the court again on Tuesday, September 10th vs River Dell.
  • VB successful again vs. Newark Academy

    Communication is the key, and the volleyball is truly coming together as one. They beat Newark Academy 25-9, 23-25, 25-15!
  • VB wins first scrimmage vs Hawthorne Christian

    The lady bulldogs looked strong in their home opener versus Hawthorne Christian Monday in Modell's sports center. They beat HCA in all three games 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
