Dwight-Englewood School’s resident professional jazz ensemble Jazz Vistas will perform Thursday, January 26, featuring jazz hits from the 1970’s. The concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Hajjar Auditorium on the D-E School campus, and is being presented as part of the School’s 2011-‘12 Head of School Series.
The January 26 concert will feature Jazz Vistas performing music from the classic 70’s band Kool and the Gang as well as pieces by Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, Gil Evans, Horace Silver, and others. In the words of Jazz Vistas Director and lead reeds player, Rob DeBellis, “All that’s cool about the 70’s jazz scene will come through in this concert. The evening should be a treat for both jazz aficionados and new fans.”
Now in its third season, the D-E Head of School Series showcases exceptional professionals in the visual and performing arts. The concerts are performed in an environment ideal for their genre; in the case of Jazz Vistas, the School’s Hajjar Auditorium is transformed into an intimate jazz club setting complete with tableside refreshments. All who attend will enjoy appetizers, served family-style, wine, and sparkling beverages.
Tickets are priced at $25 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors. Call to reserve your tickets because seating is limited. For reservations, call 201-569-9500, ext. 3403. There is ample free parking, and the facility is handicap-accessible.
