Student Transportation

Dwight-Englewood School students come from more than 80 communities in Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey, and Rockland County and Manhattan in New York.

We typically have 25 privately contracted buses that service our families.  Based on location, these buses are either door-to-door or central group stop service. We also have students arriving on buses provided by their local school district, but this changes every year and you must check with your local school district. ALL New Jersey residents must fill out the B6-T form which is referenced at the end of this section.

We build our routes based on a survey to our parent body in April asking if they would like to use our fee for service bus transportation.  Once those surveys are in, we work with First Student, our transportation company, to lay out routes.  These routes are then sent to families in May or early June with contracts that are payable starting in September.

All children are eligible for bus transportation and may use it as long as their behavior is appropriate.  First Student buses provide harness-based child seats for our smallest children.  Parents are not allowed on the buses due to insurance regulations, so children must be able to fasten their seat belts independently.

Cost for bus service ranges from $4,500 to $5,500 and is based on the level of service.  As per our contracts, families may opt out of transportation within the first month of school with a $500 cancellation fee.

Updated as of 4.8.2021
D-E will provide Late Bus transportation starting April 12 until the end of school.

Because of our social distancing protocols, we are implementing a reservation system that allows us to try and provide seats for students who want to use the Late Bus.

Currently, we are allowing 22 passengers on our 54 passenger buses and 11 passengers on our 22 passenger buses.  Given usage by our athletes, we already know that we may have to add buses to some of the routes.

In order to provide the correct number of buses each week, we will implement a Late Bus reservation system much like the Nutrislice lunch ordering system.  We will ask you to let us know the prior week when you will need late bus service.  Once we have these reservations, we will post availability by the route.  If there are available seats remaining, students can then contact Ms. Devlin by email to request a last-minute reservation.

CLICK HERE to access the Late Bus Reservation form for the week of April 12.  This form must be completed by tomorrow, Friday, April 9  at 8:00 am.  In future weeks, you will receive the form each Wednesday and it will be due back by Thursday at noon.

Athletes, please note you must complete this reservation form every week.

PLEASE NOTE:  Students who are staying after school for reasons other than athletics must also fill out the After School Reservation Form at least 24 hours in advance of their planned date.  For same-day arrangements, parents must reach out to DE-360 at or 201-569-9500 ext. 7503. For the rest of this semester, we will be monitoring after-school activity on campus closely due to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Late buses
will leave at 6:30 pm and are included in the transportation fee. They do not replicate the normal morning and afternoon pickup and drop-off stops.  In Manhattan, the buses run the avenues and in New Jersey, they make stops at different malls.  Lower School children are permitted to ride the late bus only if approved by the Lower School Principal.  Late bus details are noted below:
