@Salamazing) is a wonderful learning
and living experience. This year's trip kicked off in Madrid, Spain, at Plaza Mayor, where trip members posed for a scenic photo (see photo at right).
Students have studied hard at the University of Salamanca, taking advanced classes for the past few weeks. They enjoyed a truly immersive cultural experience living in the homes of local families throughout their stay. Aside from these incredibly educational aspects of the trip, students also had plenty of chances for great sightseeing.
Trips included a weekend in Segovia, Spain. Students had the opportunity to visit historical churches in the area and spectacular landscapes. Yesterday, the whole gang went to a flamenco show at the El Palacio de Congresos de Salamanca. The students are having a wonderfully rich cultural and bonding experience.
Meanwhile, our World Challenge Explorers have made it safely to Ecuador after leaving early morning on Monday, July 8. On Wednesday, the group went on an eight-hour, six-mile hike to the top of Fuya Fuya, an extinct volcano. Students and guides alike were stunned by the expansive view from the top of the mountain. According to student trip leader
Shereen Al-Sawwaf '15 via email, "It was a bit of a challenge because of the altitude, but we all made it."
Today, the group is headed to a famous market in Otavalo before going to their project site. They will proceed to the Galapagos this Saturday.
