Grade | 11 |
Where are you from? | I was born in Hong Kong and lived there for 6 years. After moving to America, I went to school at Oradell Public School for elementary school before applying to Dwight. |
When did you start at D-E? (What grade?) | I came to Dwight in 6th grade, and as a new kid, I felt immediately welcomed into the community. |
What activities are you involved in? | Currently, I am playing flute and piano outside of school. In school, I am a pitcher on the softball team. I am a leader of the Animal Cruelty Awareness club at D-E, as well as being a part of the Ethics Team and the Hearing Council. |
What is your favorite spot on D-E campus? | My favorite spot on the campus is the one of the small courtyards in Leggett because it is a nice place to go in the summer when you want a quiet space to get work done, but it still gives you an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors. |
Favorite D-E tradition? | On the last day of school at Dwight, we have a tradition where we have a high school assembly and each grade switches seats to the place in the auditorium that they will be sitting in for the following year. I like this tradition because it symbolizes a change in perspective and of course because it starts the beginning of summer. |
What are your favorite classes? | The electives at D-E are my favorite courses because it gives students a wider range so that they are able to choose what they feel is the most suitable to themselves. For example, in my sophomore year, I enjoyed taking Programming I and II because I was able to discover a new interest I had in programming and have decided to continue to learn about the different languages of code through AP Computer Science. |
Why D-E? | I chose D-E because I wanted a high school experience in a smaller community. Dwight was the right choice for me because I feel as though my concerns are heard. I am always welcome to talk to teachers and go to them for extra help in courses that I find difficult. The main difference I have seen in Dwight compared to my old school was the focus on the students in class and the larger focus on individual learning. I always felt encouraged to ask questions and have been welcomed to talk with the teachers outside of class to further discuss matters. |
One quirky fact about you | When I was younger, I took a circus summer course where I tried to learn how to juggle and how to ride a unicycle. |
