D-E Profiles

Camryn Leibowitz ’16

I transferred to D-E as an eighth grader from London, England and I live in Cresskill, New Jersey. I have two younger brothers [Maxwell '18 and Jonathan '20] who both attend D-E.

Throughout my time at D-E, my two favorite classes have been AP European History and Contemporary World History, both taught by Mr. Bograd. I particularly enjoyed these two classes as both opened my eyes to a different way of looking at the world. AP Euro showed me how the history of European nations affected their present in so many different ways, from art to foreign policy.

I have been on the Varsity Girls Soccer team since eighth grade. Although I wasn’t very good, I really loved the team spirit and the feeling of community.

I really looked forward to my Contemporary World History class, since I had taken AP Euro with Mr. Bograd sophomore year and had absolutely adored the class. Mr. Bograd is an amazing teacher, and his enthusiasm and love for the classes he teaches are contagious. Next year, I look forward to continuing my love of history, as it was brought through by Mr. Bograd’s classes, at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. I plan on majoring in International Culture and Politics.

A highlight of my D-E experience was the HOPE Fashion show this year. As President of the club, I had to arrange donations from local vendors and organize all the models and entertainment. It took a lot of work but the fact that we raised over $2000 for OASIS, a local charity supporting battered women and children, made it all worthwhile.
